BOAT IN CAMPING PERMITS: You do NOT need to check in at the Bear Valley Visitor Center.Camping is permitted only on the west side of Tomales Bay from Kilkenny Beach to areas north except for Duck Cove, Fruit Tree Beach, Laird’s Landing, Pelican Point, Hog Island, Duck Island, and Jack’s Beach where camping is prohibited. Beaches are shared where multiple parties may occupy the same beach. See our “Tomales Bay Boat In Camping Map” on our official Park Service website, for allowable beaches. BOAT IN- NO ASSIGNED SITES OR BEACHES: There are no “sites” on Tomales Bay and the camping is primitive camping on several allowable beaches along the west shore of Tomales Bay.Campers with Boat-In permits for "Marshall Beach Group Boat In 1 or 2" and "Tomales Beach Group Boat In" are required to camp at Marshall or Tomales Beach respectively. A and B permits may camp at any beaches allowable on the “Tomales Bay Boat In Camping Map” found on the Point Reyes National Seashore website. Boat In “A” permits are for 1-6 people and Boat In “B” permits are for 7-14 people.

Beaches are not assigned for permits up to 14 people campers choose available beaches after launching. ALL Tomales Bay permits require use of a boat, including Group sites on Marshall Beach and Tomales Beach- You MUST arrive by boat ONLY.
